Duration: 4 hours
Tucked away in the serene hills of Meghalaya, the Eri silk experience is a deep dive into one of India’s most ethical and culturally significant textile traditions. Eri silk is non-violent—the process allows the silkworm to emerge naturally from the cocoon. This cruelty-free process is a reflection of the community’s deep respect for all life forms, echoing indigenous philosophies of balance with nature.
This experience also highlights the empowerment of women artisans. Eri silk weaving is primarily done by women, and supporting their craft sustains their livelihoods, encourages the younger generation to preserve ancestral knowledge, and keeps eco-conscious practices alive in a modernizing world.
